The next
beginners tango course
starts on 1 June.

Carablanca Tango Club

Open Fridays, Carablanca is London's longest-running tango club.  The friendly, informal atmosphere ensures that beginners and visitors mix easily with the regular dancers.

Our venue, Conway Hall, is a 1920s period building in Central London.  The main hall has a large wooden floor.  The bar is excellent value with a wide choice of drinks.

The dance evening is an Argentine milonga.  Music is traditional Argentine tango, milonga and vals, played in tandas with cortinas by guest DJs.

Tango Classes

Classes take place in a separate room from the milonga. They are taught at two levels.

The Beginners tango course, which starts on the first Friday of the month, is for those with no knowledge of tango.

The Recent Beginners course assumes the knowledge of the Beginners tango course.

David & Kim Benitez

David and Kim started Tango Movement at about the same time as we started Carablanca.  They taught and performed at Carablanca many times in those early years.  We warmly welcome them back to perform tonight.

DJ from Buenos Aires: Marcelo Rojas

It's a pleasure to welcome back Marcelo Rojas to DJ at Carablanca.  Marcelo has been a tango DJ for over 20 years.  As well as DJing in milongas and festivals he is the DJ of the Tango radio of Buenos Aires called "la 2x4."

In a magazine interview Marcelo said: “What is important to me is that people can have fun and that there are as many people as possible on the dance floor.  That people dance well or badly doesn’t really interest me.  The milonga has to be like a party!”

Empanadas
Empanadas, sourced from Chango Empanadas, go into the oven on the hour.  Order one saying when you want it and whether you want a beef empanada, a chicken empanada or a vegetarian empanada filled with mozzarella, tomato and basil.   Give your table number if you have one.  Your empanada will be delivered to your table about fifteen minutes after the hour you choose.  If you don't have a table it will be delivered to the bar for you to collect.
Tango and Cocktails
A selection of 10 cocktails is available every week.  See our Cocktail Menu. Tango and cocktails both originally became fashionable in Europe in the early twentieth century and they are particularly suited to each other. The subtlety and intensity of a well-prepared cocktail makes it the ideal accompaniment to the mood of tango. Our 1920s period venue, Conway Hall, provides exactly the right setting for recreating some of the elegance of an earlier cocktail age.
