beginners tango course
started on 7 October.
You may still join this course

Carablanca Tango Club

Open Fridays, Carablanca is London's longest-running tango club.  The friendly, informal atmosphere ensures that beginners and visitors mix easily with the regular dancers.

Our venue, Conway Hall, is a 1920s period building in Central London.  The main hall has a large wooden floor.  The bar is excellent value with a wide choice of drinks.

The dance evening is an Argentine milonga.  Music is traditional Argentine tango, milonga and vals, played in tandas with cortinas by guest DJs.

Tango Classes

Classes take place in a separate room from the milonga. They are taught at two levels.

The Beginners tango course, which starts on the first Friday of the month, is for those with no knowledge of tango.

The Recent Beginners course assumes the knowledge of the Beginners tango course.

Friday 21 October
DJ: Alberto Ortiz
Dancing from 8pm to midnight

Alberto (Beto) Ortiz is an Argentinian who has lived in London for the last six years.  After starting as the DJ at his own Tea Dance, Beto became so popular that he is now invited regularly to DJ at the best milongas in London, including Corrientes Social Club, Carablanca Tango Club, Tango Etnia … Beto is a traditional DJ who selects the best tangos of the golden age of the tango and arranges them in tandas with cortinas.

Empanadas for sale at the bar
Empanadas, sourced from Chango Empanadas, go into the oven on the hour.  Order one saying when you want it and whether you want a beef empanada, a chicken empanada or a vegetarian empanada filled with mozzarella, tomato and basil.   Give your table number if you have one.  Your empanada will be delivered to your table about fifteen minutes after the hour you choose.  If you don't have a table it will be delivered to the bar for you to collect.
Tango and Cocktails
A selection of 10 cocktails is available every week.  See our Cocktail Menu. Tango and cocktails both originally became fashionable in Europe in the early twentieth century and they are particularly suited to each other. The subtlety and intensity of a well-prepared cocktail makes it the ideal accompaniment to the mood of tango. Our 1920s period venue, Conway Hall, provides exactly the right setting for recreating some of the elegance of an earlier cocktail age.
