On Friday 27 January
Stefano Fava & Gisela Vidal teach the Intermediate class:
"Elements of styling: tips and suggestions on how to sharpen
and refine some of the most common Tango moves."

Stefano Fava is well-known to Londoners through his tango school Tango In Action, run jointly with Alexandra Wood.  Gisela Vidal, from Buenos Aires, started dancing tango when 14 years old.  Her web site shows an impressive career for someone so young.

The DJ is Barry Ledbetter

Carablanca Tango Club

Open Fridays, Carablanca is London's longest-running tango club.  The friendly, informal atmosphere ensures that beginners and visitors mix easily with the regular dancers.

Our venue, Conway Hall, is a 1920s period building in Central London.  The main hall has a large wooden floor.  The bar is excellent value with a wide choice of drinks.

The dance evening is an Argentine milonga, preceded by a class.  Music is traditional Argentine tango, milonga and vals, played in tandas with cortinas by guest DJs.

Tango Classes

Classes are taught at three levels.

The Beginners tango course, which starts on the first Friday of every month, is for those with no knowledge of tango.

The Recent Beginners course assumes the knowledge of the Beginners tango course.

Intermediate classes assume the most knowledge.  In these classes you will find some who have danced tango for as little as three months and others who have danced for over ten years.

Empanadas for sale at the bar

Empanadas go into the oven on the hour.  Order one saying when you want it and whether you want a beef empanada, a chicken empanada or a vegetarian empanada filled with mozzarella, tomato and basil.  Give your table number if you have one.  Your empanada will be delivered to your table about fifteen minutes after the hour you choose.  If you don't have a table it will be delivered to the bar for you to collect.

Tango and Cocktails

Fridays
A selection of 10 cocktails is available every week.  See our Cocktail Menu.

Tango and cocktails both originally became fashionable in Europe in the early twentieth century and they are particularly suited to each other. The subtlety and intensity of a well-prepared cocktail makes it the ideal accompaniment to the mood of tango. Our 1930s period venue, Conway Hall, provides exactly the right setting for recreating some of the elegance of an earlier cocktail age.
